Spring Saving Sale

We will be running a Spring Saving Sale at www.lamppostglobes.com of 10% off entire purchase beginning April 1, 2013 through April 15, 2013.  Promotional code is "facebook"  With the harsh weather we have had this winter there will be globes that need to be replaced or you might just want to brighten up our patios with our new selection of string lights lamp post.  If you have any questions please contact us at lamppostglobes@yahoo.com.
A little refresher on measuring the correct size of globe to order.  We get a lot of questions on how to determine the diameter of a globe.  If you have an existing globe that you want to replace or match, you measure around the circumference and divide by 3.14 ( remember pi from your math classes?)  this will give you the diameter.  If you don't have an existing globe we suggest you make a circle with a string to the size that you want measure and divide that by 3.14.  The most important measurement is the size and type of the bottom of the globe that will fit your fitter.  More on that later.

How To Determine Diameter of a Replacement Globe

How To Determine The Size Of The Replacement Globes You Need:

The diameter is calculated by measuring around the widest part of the existing globe (circumference) and dividing by 3.14.
To determine the size neck you need if you have a fitter that the globes fit down into and is held in place with set screws, measure across the fitter. Standard fitters are usually 4 or 8 inches across.

Buyers Guide to the Properties of Plastic Lamp Post Globes

POLYCARBONATE
Available in: semi gloss clear Has high resistance to temperature Will soften at 290 degrees F. Although inhibited against ultra violet rays will discolor slightly and become darker over time. Has extremely high shock resistance.
Please note: Clear polycarbonate is rotationally molded and has a very tiny distribution of bubbles within the material. It is not considered "optically clear" but in its application on lamp posts appears clear.

POLYETHYLENE
Available in matte-white Extremely shock resistant Highly resistant to most corrosive atmospheric conditions.

ACRYLIC
Acrylic is a clear plastic that resembles glass Acrylic is only half as heavy as glass If taken care of acrylic remains new looking regardless of age Acrylic 's transparency rate is 93% making acrylic the clearest material known Scratches can be easily buffed out of acrylic
For all of its advantages, there are two disadvantages of acrylic: it is more expensive than glass, and if exposed to direct flame it will melt and eventually burn.
